How does Light Therapy work?

LED Light therapy delivers specific treatments using combinations of Blue, Red and Near Infrared wavelengths. Not only is this treatment incredibly stimulating for Collagen and Elastin production, it also improves circulation, reduces redness and irritation. The element of Blue Light kills blemish causing bacteria instantly and is very safe for use on children.

It uses the most clinically proven wavelengths to energise cells by 200% and trigger the skins natural healing processes to treat a wide range of conditions.

Utilising the latest generation LED technology, Dermalux ensures a safe and targeted delivery of light at the optimum intensity for maximum results. It is a heat free and chemical free treatment that does not harm the skin with an excellent safety profile behind it. This treatment is beneficial for all skin types without downtime.

Our LED Light Therapy Medi-facial is a relaxing, pain free experience with proven mood enhancing effects, perfect for any SAD sufferers. Enjoy some luxury me-time as your skin absorbs the energising light that kick starts the cell regeneration process and restores radiance.

I can see why Dermalux is a multi Award winning treatment, I have never seen results from a non-invasive facial that are so powerful, especially for acne. Everybody should be having Dermalux!

— Charlene

The LED Dermalux is a great treatment. It has worked wonders on my skin, really clearing up most of my scarring and blemishes. You spend 20 minutes under the light, so it’s also a great way to relax.

FAQs

FAQs

Do I need a course of treatment?

Not necessarily. We recommend having Dermalux Light Therapy as a boost to any skin treatment, or as a stand-alone quick fix lunchtime facial. However, if we are treating a skin condition, 10-12 treatments are recommended at a frequency of 2-3 sessions per week, this will give you the best results as quickly as possible.

Is it safe?

Yes! Dermalux Light Therapy has one of the highest safety profiles of any skin care treatment. It does not generate heat or UV wavelengths so cannot damage skin tissue or create photosensitivity. It is clinically proven to be safe for all skin types and the most sensitive skin conditions. Our particular model is used in Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in their burns department to accelerate healing. The Dermalux MD range are Medically CE certified for acne, psoriasis, wound healing and pain relief (musculoskeletal) and are the only LED systems in the world to hold medical approval for psoriasis.

Are there any side effects?

There is no risk of irritation, side effects or down time that may be associated with more invasive procedures. There have been no reported side effects in over 3,000 published clinical studies. However, it is important to be aware that photosensitive medications or health conditions may be contraindicated to the LED treatment due to increased sensitivity to light exposure.

What does it feel like?

Dermalux Light Therapy is a relaxing, pain free experience with evidenced wellbeing effects. The treatment does not generate heat but a feeling of natural warmth is common due to the increase in blood circulation. It can take a few seconds for the eyes to settle due to the intense brightness, however goggles are provided and the initial brightness quickly subsides.

Can I have the Dermlaux Light treatment whilst pregnant?

Even though the Dermalux treatment is very safe, the devices have not been tested on pregnant women therefore the risk is unknown. Treatment will be at the discretion of the client and practitioner after a thorough consultation. It is safe to use on clients who are breast feeding.

What can you treat with Dermalux Light Therapy?

There are a wide range of conditions that can be dramatically improved by this treatment. The Triwave MD device has been medically CE certified for all types of Acne, redness, inflammatory skin, Psoriasis, Eczema, pigmentation, wound healing, Musculoskeletal pain relief and general rejuvenation.

How long do the results last?

You will see full results 24-48 hours post treatment and can last for several months following a course of Dermalux Light Therapy treatments, subject to what is being treated. However, regular maintenance treatments are advised to extend results as part of an on-going skin health programme.

Anything else I should know?

If you are claustrophobic let us know, we want the light to be about 2cm away from the face which can sometimes cause unease, however our particular model can be adjusted to create less of an enclosed space. Some clients bring their Airpods with them, especially if you find it hard to relax, you can catch up on an audio book while you’re lying there.

Is there any age restrictions?

We have age restrictions on all of our treatments at SKIN lounge Aesthetics due to safety reasons and the body constantly changing. With the Dermalux Light Therapy treatment we will require a consultation before hand with the parent or guardian for any child under the age of 16, however the high level of safety from this machine and adaptable settings can treat youths.
