I find it incredible that by using light (heat) you can reduce the amount of unwanted hair so easily and painlessly. After all the years of waxing, shaving and plucking we now have an incredible solution – who wants underarm hair anyway?

FAQs

Do I need a course?

Yes, working against hormones is not easy! The average course of treatment is 10 sessions in each area. We need to catch the hair in all stages of the growth cycle to make sure it has been effectively treated. Stubborn facial hair can take a few more sessions.

Is it safe?

The Soprano Titanium system is one of the safest on the market, rather than delivering all the laser energy in shots such as with traditional laser systems, the applicator is passed back and forth over the area so that energy and warmth builds up over a few seconds. This gives you a measure of control over the heat you experience. However, like most treatments it has some medical limitations. A free consultation is recommended if you have any additional questions or would like further advice as to whether this is the right treatment for you.

What does it feel like?

Warmth builds up under the skin, however, each flash of light lasts less than a second so the sensation quickly subsides. There is a cooling tip on the top of the applicator which also provides extra comfort.

Do I need a patch test?

Yes, we recommend that you have a patch test and full consultation 1 week before your first treatment.

How often do I need my treatments?

We recommend waiting between 4-6 weeks for facial areas and 6-8 weeks for body areas. The number of hair removal sessions depends on various factors, including where the hair is, how thick it is and also your particular skin type and hair colour.

How do I get rid of my unwanted hair between treatments?

Shaving is the preferred method of removing hairs before and in between the treatments. You must refrain from waxing or plucking the hairs as these methods will remove hairs at their root level, causing the active hairs not to be present for the laser to act on them, making the treatment ineffective.

Can I sunbathe while having Laser hair removal?

Yes. You must wait at least 7 days after sun exposure before having a laser hair removal treatment and you should wait at least 7 days after treatment before having any sun exposure. Avoid sunbeds throughout a course of laser hair removal. If your skin is still red from sun exposure or you have been sun burned or are peeling, you will need to wait until the skin is completely healed before beginning treatment.

Is there any age restrictions?

We have age restrictions on all of our treatments at SKIN Lounge due safety reasons and the body constantly changing. Laser Hair Removal requires a minimum age of 18 years old.

Do I need to do any prep beforehand?

Before every Laser Hair Reduction session we always recommend you to have shaved the area fully yourself, this would be done ideally on the morning of the appointment to make sure that there is little to no hair growth outside of the follicle. DO NOT wax the area or use hair removal creams, we need the hair to still be inside the follicle to be able to carry out a successful session. We use a dry disposable razor to clean up any odd hairs that may have been missed but this is not used for a full shave and your therapist will not be able to complete your appointment in time otherwise. If the area has not been shaved, your therapist may well reschedule the treatment for another day.

How long do I need in between treatments?

Timing is crucial to get the best results possible. For body treatments, 6 weeks is needed between sessions. We have to stick to a specific time frame in order to treat the hairs at the correct Anagen growth stage and gain effective results. If there are longer or inconsistent gaps between appointments then the results will not be guaranteed and you may need more treatments. As the course of treatment goes on, sessions can be pushed to 8 week intervals, only when there is absolutely no regrowth at 6 weeks.
